He didn't get his name by accident. The Pied Heron was formally described by the ornithologist John Gould in 1845 — from Port Essington, right here in the Northern Territory. He's not just a Top End bird. He's the Top End's own, carrying his...

She knows. She absolutely knows. A Galah who has never once questioned her own magnificence — and why would she? All rose-pink and white, with a crest she deploys at full volume and an expression that suggests she finds your admiration entirely appropriate. The...

There's a moment with a Sea Eagle where you realise the looking is entirely one-sided — you think you're watching it, and then that eye lands on you and you understand you've had it backwards the whole time. I painted this one after being...

The Straw-necked Ibis has a reputation problem that she absolutely does not deserve. Stand one in good NT light and watch what happens to those neck feathers — electric green, deep purple, burnished bronze, all shifting at once. There's nothing ordinary about this bird....

The Azure Kingfisher is one of those birds that makes you question your own eyesight — a streak of electric blue and burnt gold, and just like that, breakfast is over and he's vanished. This one was inspired by the brilliant work of local wildlife...

There’s something about pelicans—their stately glide one moment, and their comical squabbles the next. Skipper captures that charming contradiction, with a watchful golden eye and a beak that’s seen its fair share of seaside banter. Painted in luminous watercolours with splashes of ocean blues,...

Get close enough and the "black" stops being black at all — it's charcoal and violet and storm-grey, flecked with gold that only shows itself in the right light. This fella's caught mid-fluff, crest up, giving me the full side-eye. That amber eye ringed...

Caught. Completely. Still denying everything. The Ringtail Possum is the Northern Territory's most convincing alibi artist — and those enormous eyes have been getting him out of trouble since long before your mango tree. This one was caught mid-fruit-theft with an expression of such...

He was not invited. He does not care. The Green Tree Frog is the Top End's most cheerful uninvited houseguest — found on windows, walls, shower recesses, and occasionally the inside of your bathroom at 11pm with absolutely no apology forthcoming. This one was...

A companion piece to Low Hanging Branches, painted from the same afternoon light but a different angle into the canopy — here the trunk forks into pale grey-white, with a run of blue washing straight down the bark like water finding a crack, and...

Gum trees are one of those things you stop noticing until the light hits them right — and this one catches exactly that moment, white bark glowing where the afternoon sun lands across the trunk and branches. Painted loose and abstract, colour is dropped...

Dorrie is unflinching — head tilted, one eye locked on you, that wild crest of feathers caught mid-toss. The palette leans into cobalt and indigo rather than the expected browns and greys, with ink-black washes pooling into her crown and flicks of loose spatter...

An amazing memory, a singing voice that can mimic just about anything, and the sheer nerve to sit there and hold a pose while I painted him — this bird had it all. Magpies are one of our most-loved birds for good reason. Unbelievably...

The owl that isn’t an owl…Australia’s wonderful Tawny Frogmouth — master of disguise and perfectly at home against the bark of a paperbark tree. If he freezes still enough, he becomes almost invisible. This little character was captured in the wild showing off his creamy...

This watercolour was painted from a photo I snapped while road-tripping through the beautiful Pemberton region, south of Margaret River in WA. I was drawn to the rich pink tones glowing through the tall Karri trees—it was pure magic. Artwork Details: ·        Medium: Original...

Rich colours, bold shapes, and gorgeous sunflowers—what more could you ask for to brighten a day? Painted in a loose, expressive style, Sunflower Sunshine radiates warmth and joy, bringing an instant pop of personality to any space. The vibrant yellows and golds are beautifully...

Meet Charlie—a gentle soul with a crown of golden feathers and a curious gaze. This Sulphur-crested cockatoo was inspired by a real encounter in the Australian bush, where I came across him perched high in the gums, quietly observing the world. Painted in soft...

When the bottlebrush blooms, it simply demands to be painted! This loose, expressive watercolour captures the vibrant pinks and fresh greens of the iconic Australian Callistemon (Bottlebrush) in full bloom. Painted with lively brushstrokes and splashes of colour, it’s brimming with wild energy –...

A Brolga with perfect balance, foraging and bug-hunting for breakfast. These graceful Brolgas were inspired by a road trip through Western Queensland, where I spotted a family of these tall, elegant birds feeding in a grassy field. Painted in soft, muted tones with loose,...

Brolgas foraging and bug-hunting throughout the outback. Original watercolour of the majestic Brolga – one of Australia’s tallest and most striking native birds. Painted on premium 640gsm watercolour paper, this piece features flowing brushwork, delicate colour transitions, and an airy sense of movement. Signed...
