Edna

Edna is painted close and unflinching — head tilted, one eye locked on you, that wild crest of feathers caught mid-toss. The palette leans into cobalt and indigo rather than the expected browns and greys, with ink-black washes pooling into her crown and flicks of loose spatter across the page. It's a portrait built on contrast: soft bleeding colour against sharp black linework, stillness against all that movement in the feathers.

She's part of the studio's growing series of emu portraits, each one worked freehand and left to do what watercolour does on its own terms — pool, bloom, and settle in ways that can never be exactly repeated. Bring her home and she's yours alone: one original, no reproductions, no edition number.
