He didn't get his name by accident.

The Pied Heron was formally described by the ornithologist John Gould in 1845 — from Port Essington, right here in the Northern Territory. He's not just a Top End bird. He's the Top End's own, carrying his credentials quietly, the way creatures do when they've never had anything to prove.

That golden eye says everything. Patient, precise, and completely aware of exactly where he belongs. I've painted a lot of birds over the years, but there are some that make you put down your brush and just look for a while. The Territorian is one of those.

A Note on Originals When you buy an original, you're not buying a reproduction — you're taking home the actual painting, with every brushstroke, every wash, every decision I made in the moment. No two are alike. Ever.
