Dustbin Diva

The Straw-necked Ibis has a reputation problem that she absolutely does not deserve. Stand one in good NT light and watch what happens to those neck feathers — electric green, deep purple, burnished bronze, all shifting at once. There's nothing ordinary about this bird. She just gets mistaken for her less glamorous cousin, and frankly, she's over it.

This is the painting that stopped people cold in the gallery. That iridescent frock demanded its own title — and Dustbin Diva was the only one that fit.
