Red-tailed Black Cockatoo
Get close enough and the "black" stops being black at all — it's charcoal and violet and storm-grey, flecked with gold that only shows itself in the right light. This fella's caught mid-fluff, crest up, giving me the full side-eye. That amber eye ringed in dusty pink says everything a cockatoo needs to say without opening its beak.
Red-tailed Black Cockatoos are a regular, breathtaking sight across the Top End and across Northern Australia — I've never gotten used to watching them fly over.

A Note on Originals When you buy an original, you're not buying a reproduction — you're taking home the actual painting, with every brushstroke, every wash, every decision I made in the moment. No two are alike. Ever.
